Back To 2013
May 15, 2022
Spring of 2013 I moved from rotary polishing to using a Porter Cable 7424xp random orbital polisher.
When I did that I selected pads based on my needs after looking at a competitor's offering with hexagons on the pad face. I bought the green for compounding, blue for polishing and red for liquid sealant application. I always enjoyed using these pads, and often went back to them after trying countless others.
Then I started using Rupes tools, and these pads didn't quite compliment those polishers with this design, but will work. I've since decided to go back to my old pad set up of the Porter Cable and the green, blue red (and black for cleaner waxes) for the time being. That being said, I might go with the Flex range...
The blue foam is a very effective polishing pad. I used to use then a lot with Meguiar's M205 and Ultimate Polish. These days I've been using 3D AAT502, ACA520, and ONE with them for polishing/finishing. They have just enough cut to remove light swirls and oxidation, although I've done successful one step processes using M205 or 3D ONE.
If I need more defect removal I move to the green pad with 3D ONE. I've been very fortunate with the green pad and ACA500 compound removing pretty heavy defects, where I would otherwise have to use a microfiber pad. Meguiar's M210 also works great with this foam.
If you ever find that your old crusty Porter Cable is more fun and easy to use than the fancy modern stuff, give these pads a shot. I do this for a living on my own and at a shop part time where I'm predominantly working on Rolls Royce, Bentley, MacLaren, etc, etc. All is can say is that if they can work in that environment, they might work in yours too.
Non marring foam with corrective abilities.
Accepts contours and curves well, with great efficiency - especially with a short throw polisher like the Porter Cable 7424xp or Flex 3401.
It would be great to see the green, blue, black, and red pads available in the 1", 3", 5.5", and 6.5" sizes in a shorter and updated profile - with and without center holes (3" - 6.5") and with pr without some kind of variegated design (not unlike the hex pads).

Excellent Polishing Pad
December 1, 2019
I had a customer who wanted her car paint improved but she didn't have the money for a full paint correction. I wanted to get the best results possible for what she was paying. The car hadn't ever been waxed, other than the wax put on at a car wash. The car was 15 years old and the paint was also slightly oxidized. I used this pad with some Zymol cleaner wax and the result was amazing. The customer is still commenting on how nice the paint looks weeks after I did the job. The pad and wax combo gave just enough cut to bring back the factory new look shine that the vehicle had. I will definitely buy more of these pads for these types of jobs where I'm looking to provide significant paint improvement without doing a full paint correction. I highly recommend this pad.
