Your WeatherTech ClearCover License Plate Frame protects the license plate beneath from the detrimental effects of rain, salt, and radiation. The transparent acrylic cover is coated with a UV protectant to prevent cracking, yellowing or dulling of the plastic or your license plate, allowing it to retain its vivid, new appearance. Even the mounting screws are stainless, to prevent rusting from ever ruining the appearance. The construction is second to none, as in all WeatherTech products: The flexible rubber grooved gasket runs around the entire perimeter of the frame which prevents dirt from working its way, or moisture from seeping between the lens and the plate. A terrific plate protector

I needed a replacement for my existing cover and I was surprised to discover that Autogeek is carrying this brand of plate protector. It's a better design as the cover and seal are incorporated together instead of separately like the protector I was replacing. There's a big assortment of bolts and screws to accommodate most types of plate mounts. I couldn't use the bolts provided as the threads were too coarse to use; I had to use my existing bolts instead.
The cover is about the same thickness as the cover I replaced which means light from the tag lights can get blocked to a degree. Since my tag lights are mounted above the plate, the top corners of the plate are illuminated well and the ambient light illuminates the plate itself. The plate is still readable but the light intensity over most of the plate is dimmer than expected.
Does an excellent job of sealing and protecting the plate from the elements.
Plenty of hardware provided for mounting a license plate.
Low profile edges won't obscure or cover up the details on the plate which can be illegal in some states.
The thickness of the cover can obscure the brightness of the tag lights illuminating the plate. The top corners or sides of the plate are illuminated the best but the rest of the plate isn't illuminated as brightly.

Perfect fit and finish. High quality construction and durability. Clear cover stays transparent. I bought Altec license plate covers exclusively for over 20 years until their quality of manufacture tanked. The large rubber grommets didn't even fit the last two I bought, and Altec didn't bother to respond when I asked them for help. My advice is to avoid the Altec junk and buy WeatherTech!

Nice cover but will get cloudy

Nice cover. The frame and all is well make. It will fade in time, it will get cloudy. I called about the cloudiness of the clear frame and they do not warranty it because past the warranty time. Out all the frames I have purchased, this seem to be the better one. All seems they all get cloudy like the headlights. Will have to get another two to stop the cops from hassling me or not get the covers Gave it four because made well.
